All instruction is given by, or in the presence of, an instructor in possession of a valid instructor certificate of the appropriate class.
Former state instructors, behind-the-wheel trainer, and other competent individuals who are thoroughly familiar with classroom curriculum are scheduled to give instruction in the presence of state instructors.
Per Ed Code 40081 (c) All courses of study and training activities required by this article shall be approved by the department and given by, or in the presence of, an instructor in possession of a valid school pupil activity bus (SPAB), transit bus, schoolbus, or farm labor vehicle driver instructor certificate of the appropriate class.
Yes. Class rules are strictly enforced. We are committed to providing a virtual environment free of distractions and conducive to learning. Failure to abide by the classroom rules, will be cause for removal from class.
Yes, per Instructor Bulletin 20-66 (See below)
In part Instructor Bulletin 20-66 dated June 1, 2020 stated: In accordance with its mission to disseminate and extend knowledge, CDE/OST acknowledges that the use of current technology (i.e. Zoom, Google Meets, etc.) to meet the requirements in Education Code section 40081(c) will be accepted for Original and/or Renewal Classroom instruction. These technologies allow for real-time interaction between instructor(s) and participants during creditable time; therefore, fulfilling the statutory requirement for classroom instruction given by, or in the presence of, a state-certified instructor.
Yes. Drivers must be visible in order to receive classroom time.
Note: There is no need to ask permission to step out of view of the camera, for example to go use the restroom. However, being out of camera view too often or for too long may be cause for removal from class.
Only state certified instructors of the appropriate class can document a T-01 Training Certificate. Participating instructors are provided access to the master attendance sheet. The sheet will contain attendee, present instructor, and training times received.
Time allowed: hour for hour or minute for minute, rounded down to the closest quarter of an hour. All classes are monitored. The time drivers enter/exit class is rounded and recorded on the master attendance sheet.
Absolutely! All participating instructors will have direct access to the master attendance sheet. The sheet will contain driver information, classroom time and unit(s) received. It will also contain the names, contact information, and I.D. number of the instructors that were present during classroom instruction.
Yes. Each company or school district will be treated as separate entities. You can encourage each of your clients to simply add us to their vendor list. Ask for details.
Send as many as needed. There’s no limit.
Virtual classroom seating is first come first served. There is no limit on the number of drivers you may send within your specific company or school district. You may not combined with other districts or companies. Best practice is to sign up as early as possible.
Definitely. This is ideal as long as there is a state instructor present during classroom instruction. Our abilitity to monitor the entire training room would be limited. Thus, having an instructor’s presence in the classroom would be advisable.
Yes. Simply add us the the vendor list. However, your school district or company will be responsible for consulting with a state instructor of the appropriate class for documentation of training.
Once we are a confirmed vendor.
Your school district or company will need to provide us with a vendor number. If you are a state instructor, your identity and training credentials must be verified. If you have not done so, sign up as a participating instructor.
Once the above has been completed, you are provided with a classroom login link. This link can be sent to drivers that need renewal training.
We do all the coordinating. We schedule instructors to maintain continuous instructor presence. You may offer to be presence minimum one unit. You will simply log in and be presence.
Yes. As required, classes are schedules and posted in advance. All participating instructors are given access to the schedule.
To fulfill your request we collect your child's full name, route number, and school name. Parents or guardian's name and for parent verification, you must provide a phone number that the transportation department already has on file. This number will be used to contact you if you are requesting an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival). Visit our privacy policy for details.
This information will be relayed directly and instantly to the transportation department. It MUST be correct.
Instead of calling the transportation department, parents use a cloud-based application to submit requests such as No ride, Resume ride, and even ETAs directly to the dispatchers monitor. The dispatch will reach out to the driver. For ETA requests, parents provide a contact number enabling the department to text or call the requester.
Not necessarily. When classes are scheduled for weekends, evenings, and non-school hours, state instructors may be compensated for their presence but not always. Independent instructors may be compensated during school hours. Ask for details.
